I'm Stefanie Riggs, welcome to our web page! I graduated from South Harrison High School in Bethany, MO in 1989. I then earned my Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management from Missouri Western State University in 1993. Here is where I met my husband, Jason. Jason is from the Lake of the Ozarks and went to Missouri Western on scholarship to play baseball for the Griffins. We were married in 1994.
After graduating from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in 1996, Jason was assigned to work in Lebanon. I was fortunate to continue working in my field as the Sports Director for the Cowan Civic Center from its beginning stages. It was a very exciting job and I loved working with the Lebanon community.
My journey began with the Lebanon R-3 School District a couple of years later. I was hired as a paraprofessional and enjoyed this job for many years. I loved working in the elementary grades so much, that I decided to attend SBU to earn my teaching certificate. Along the way I had the opportunity to continue my education and I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 2005. I began teaching fourth grade at Boswell in the fall of that same year. It was then, and continues to be, a very rewarding profession. Having my own classroom is a dream come true!
During this time Jason and I started our family. We have two beautiful girls, Bailey and Keeley. Bailey is nervous but excited, as a freshman, to walk into the "greatest high school in America" ! She enjoys playing volleyball, swimming, and being with friends in her free time. Keeley is also nervous but excited to change buildings as she heads to Hillcrest. She enjoys cheer, swimming, and playing with our Yorkie, Max. Jason is the biggest Cardinals fan I know. He also enjoys spending time with "his girls" and bow hunting on his days off. In my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my family and cheering on Bailey and Keeley in their activities. We are active members of Southern Heights Christian Church. I love to read and both the Hunger Games series and Shadow Children series have been some of my favorites I've read as a teacher. In elementary school I liked, and really connected, with Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume books, among others. My only obsession is coffee, especially White Chocolate Mocha's from Starbucks.
Students should plan on working really hard, giving their very best effort, and making lots of great memories during this last year of Hillcrest! I know we're all super excited about the transition to the new Lebanon Middle School in 2016!
I can be reached anytime at [email protected]
